We know going to a new church for the first time can feel overwhelming — that’s very normal and completely okay. To help you find your way here and make your first visit a comfortable one, here’s everything you need to know.
When you visit, you’ll probably hear us mention the “Gospel”. In fact, we describe ourselves as a Gospel-focused church. In a nutshell, the Gospel is the Bible — the Good News about Jesus. It’s the story of God’s awesome plan for humankind outlining creation, brokenness (sin), and the solution to brokenness through Jesus. Every Sunday, we unpack a small section of the Gospel — with practical applications — so we can learn more about Christ and grow in faith together.
At a Southern River Church of Christ gathering, you can expect people genuinely excited to meet you, great conversation, and a relaxed Sunday service. We dress down, enjoy a time of contemporary music and singing, and unpack the Bible together through an easy-to-understand message. We also have fun, interactive activities for young ones. The whole family can come along and enjoy church together.
Each service goes for around an hour and 15 minutes, with morning tea and mingling afterwards. Stick around to enjoy a cuppa and meet some of the people who are excited to chat with you!
Southern River Church of Christ meets in the Learning Hub at Providence Christian College (formerly Thornlie Christian College). It might feel like a bit of a maze, so we suggest you look for one of our ‘Welcome Team’ to guide you once you get to the College.
KidsChurch operates during school terms for children age between pre-school and school year 5. We share Bible stories, engage in craft activities, sing songs, and pray.
